4.30.10 // charlie and the lego factory..! no, wait...

the lego animation class i'm teaching is going pretty well so far. okay, not gonna lie, i'm only doing it because the pay is good. there's a reason why i want to teach college kids and not elementary schoolers, they are such a handful! they may seem sweet at first but when they start to get comfortable around you is when you need to watch out. they will test you to no end. today i had a group of 4th and 5th grade boys who spent the last half hour of class making prank calls. >_< couldn't really spend too much time trying to stop them because there are other groups that need me, but oh well. if they want to waste their parents' money and not have a film, that's their choice.

other than the troublesome boys, i have a group of all girls and they are the sweetest little things ever. currently the kids are supposed to be building sets for their films, and the girls are the only ones who have finished so far:



they started out with a 'prince of persia' lego kit, and their story is about waffle-eating ostriches and an evil dictator who decides to cover the world in candy. so cute!

this tarp was covered in legos when we first brought them out. and then about five minutes after the kids got to them...



only the boring pieces are left now. legos control a room better than any teacher can, that's for sure.

dee had her performance of 'willy wonka and the chocolate factory' tonight. mike teavee...hilarious. even though she told me every single bump in road they came across while rehearsing [there were tons of them] the play didn't turn out too bad for a middle school production. the kids all tried, and you could tell they were having fun.

had tons of fun with shay and jade tonight. first island's then toys 'r' us because that place rocks.


wtf, the point of the toy is to put poop stickers on the bench... o.O

4.26.10 // logo heart

this is my personal logo type for typography class. i'm actually really happy with the way it turned out. my original idea wasn't at all like this; i only had my initials and a heart chilling next to them. but then we helped each other get idea in class and i was given the inspiration for the final product. i like how the left side of the heart forms a 'm' and then the rest of my name flows into the right curve. i even had some stickers made. ^_^

funtimes in camarillo with matty. went to visit zach at the panini place. that place never stops being delicious though i do question some of their items:


nutella panini, how does that work/taste..?

then went to freedom park to check out the roller rink, practice place of the ventura county derby darlins. ended up finding a lot more than just the rink, though.

this vehicle speeding away from me is a volkswagen bora. basically it's the exact same thing as a jetta {loves!} but it's the international version. have only seen a handful of them over here, but i've seen a lot in london. i really don't know why vw made it, what's wrong with jettas? and 'bora' is an ugly name. jetta sounds much better, and it's zippy!

in typography we're currently working on personal logotypes. and part of class was to go around and draw new logos for people, just to give us both some ideas. one of the guys who got mine is a fantastic graffiti artist, and when i got back to my seat i saw these:





he said he was just messing around, but am i the only one who thinks they're amazing?

matty is the best ever. he made me matza ball soup and potato pancakes like the good jewish boy he is. ^_^

another night of filming in pasadena. this time, however, the crew got shut down by the cops literally five seconds after matt and i left. oh well, it was good while it lasted...if you subtract the annoying people driving by and ruining shots ever five seconds and random kids going into the cobb estate forest where we were filming.
